Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley is surging among party voters in a new poll, threatening Florida governor Ron DeSantis’s position as the second-place candidate in the primary behind former president Donald Trump.
The poll, conducted last week by USA Today, puts Haley at 11 percent support among GOP primary voters, 1 point behind DeSantis’s 12 percent. The poll showed Trump dominating in the primary with 58 percent support.
DeSantis has seen his support fall from the last USA Today poll conducted in June, which showed he had 23 percent support. Trump’s total, however, has shot up 10 points. Haley is up 7 points since the last poll.
The findings come after a poll last week showed Trump leading Biden in nearly every swing state.
The poll, from Bloomberg News and Morning Consult last week, found that Trump beats Biden in nearly every swing state. The former president is up 47 percent to Biden’s 43 percent among voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
