Inman, Kansas – A devastating incident unfolded at a motocross event in Kansas over the weekend, as a pregnant mother and her two sons tragically lost their lives due to a suspected carbon monoxide leak in their camper.

The McPherson County Sheriff’s Office, which responded to the distress call at the Inman Motocross track, is currently investigating the incident in collaboration with the Inman Police Department. The official cause of death has not been released, pending a preliminary report from the coroner’s office.

According to a GoFundMe page set up by a family friend, the victims were identified as a pregnant woman, Felicia Richey, and her two sons. The page was created to help the grieving father and husband, Jason Richey, cover the costs of three funerals and take time off work to mourn. A second GoFundMe page has also been established to assist with funeral expenses.

Inman Motocross, the host of the Kansas Motocross Championship Series where the incident occurred, expressed their condolences in a Facebook post. They postponed the eighth round of the championship series, urging everyone to hold their loved ones close during this difficult time.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warns that carbon monoxide, a colorless and odorless gas, can be lethal. It is produced when fuel is burned in vehicles, furnaces, or gas ranges. Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include headaches, dizziness, and confusion. The CDC cautions that individuals who are sleeping or intoxicated can succumb to carbon monoxide poisoning before they exhibit symptoms.
