Former reality TV star Shana Wall has initiated legal proceedings against American Airlines, claiming she sustained severe injuries after ingesting plastic fragments in a drink served during a flight. The incident, which transpired on May 1 during a journey from John F. Kennedy International Airport to Rome, allegedly caused harm to Wall’s throat, esophagus, vocal cords, and digestive system, as per the lawsuit lodged in Manhattan Supreme Court.
Wall, 51, alleges that the incident rendered her bedridden and incapable of working, necessitating continuous medical attention to treat the internal damage. The actress and model, who was previously in a relationship with TV host Ryan Seacrest, argues that American Airlines neglected its responsibility to provide uncontaminated food and beverages suitable for consumption, thereby creating a hazardous and unsafe environment on the aircraft.
Wall, originally from California and currently residing in New York’s Meatpacking District, is seeking an unspecified amount in damages for the alleged negligence. Neither Wall nor her legal representative have responded to requests for comments on the lawsuit. American Airlines has also not yet issued a statement in response to the allegations.
Wall, who was in a relationship with Seacrest from 2003 to 2005, has made guest appearances on popular TV shows such as “Married… with Children” and “Entourage.” She currently works as a sommelier and contributes to the men’s magazine Best Life. Her social media activity indicates a strong interest in travel, especially to locations renowned for their wines and vineyards.
This is not the first instance of an airline facing accusations of serving contaminated food or beverages. In June, a passenger on an Air India flight reported discovering a metal object in a sweet potato served during the flight. In a separate incident last year, a passenger on a Korean Air flight alleged to have found a piece of glass in her coffee.
