Neil Currey, a renowned bodybuilder who once graced the stage of the world’s most esteemed fitness competition, has tragically passed away at the age of 34. The news was shared by Milo Sarcev, Currey’s former coach, who expressed his shock and grief over the loss on social media. Sarcev fondly remembered Currey’s triumphant moment when he won the New York Pro, a victory that secured his place in the Mr. Olympia competition. The circumstances surrounding Currey’s untimely death remain uncertain.

Born and bred in the United Kingdom, Currey had a lifelong passion for fitness. His competitive journey began in 2017, and two years later, he made his debut in the International Federation of BodyBuilding and Fitness (IFBB) Classic Physique competition. According to Generation Iron, he secured the 7th position in this competition.

Throughout his career, Currey competed against some of the world’s fittest men in various international locations, including Kuwait, Puerto Rico, and New York. His crowning achievement came in 2022 when he won the New York Pro, earning him a spot in the prestigious Mr. Olympia competition.

Later that year, Currey fulfilled his lifelong dream by stepping onto the Mr. Olympia stage, a platform that has been dominated by legends like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jay Cutler, and Ronnie Coleman. Although Currey finished 16th in the competition, his participation alone marked him as one of the elite in the field.

Currey’s death comes on the heels of the passing of Lisa Lyon, a trailblazer in professional women’s bodybuilding. His former coach, Sarcev, paid tribute to him on Instagram, sharing photos of Currey at various competitions and expressing his heartfelt condolences to Currey’s family and friends.
