Two teenagers were tragically killed when a shooting broke out at a huge house party celebrating a Sweet Sixteen outside Atlanta on Saturday night.
Six other individuals were injured in the disorder at the gathering in Douglassville, Georgia, where over a hundred teenagers were in attendance.
According to the Georgia Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the violence was initiated after a conflict occurred. In a statement on Facebook, the office revealed, “We know that there was a house party where well over a hundred teenagers were attending. A confrontation occurred that resulted in two deaths and six injured from gunshots.”
A neighbor of the area exposed to WSB-TV that the party had a “block party” atmosphere and that her children had gone to the bash that spilled out into the cul-de-sac.
The property owner of the house where the festivities were taking place mentioned to WXIA that the event was a Sweet 16 celebration for their daughter, but the individual asserted the party had been terminated by 10 PM due to some of the attendees smoking marijuana.
It is unknown if any adults were in the house during the shooting. Police stated that both victims were under eighteen but had not released their identities.
No arrests have been made, and the reason for the shooting is unknown. Douglassville is located around twenty miles away from Atlanta.
