Paul Hogan, 61, fell 10 feet from the roof of St. Margaret’s Primary School in Spotswood while collecting balls. He suffered critical head injuries and was rushed to the hospital, but sadly passed away the next day. Hogan, who had worked as a temporary teacher at the school, was remembered as a respected educator who loved to bring laughter and fun into the lives of those around him.
The school sent a letter to families expressing their deepest sympathies and highlighting Hogan’s achievements. He had become the principal at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Sunbury in 2009 and later served as the principal at St. Mary’s Primary School in Ascot Vale until his retirement in 2022. Despite retiring, he continued to work as a part-time and substitute teacher.
Dr. Edward Simons, the executive director of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), expressed the community’s deep sadness over Hogan’s untimely death. He described Hogan as a highly regarded educator and leader, extending condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. MACS has activated specialist support services to assist those impacted by the tragedy.
