In a shocking incident in Humphreys County, Tennessee, a young man was taken into custody after admitting to fatally shooting his mother in their home. Local law enforcement responded to a call reporting a death at a residence outside the city of McEwen early Thursday morning. Upon arrival, they discovered a deceased woman and initiated a criminal investigation.
The suspect, identified as William Keaton Hall, confessed to the crime during an interview at the sheriff’s office. He revealed that he had shot his mother, Sherri Hicks Hall, in the head and subsequently attempted to conceal her body and remove physical evidence from the scene. The crime occurred within a home on Parrish Lane, within the jurisdiction of Humphreys County.
Based on Hall’s confession and the physical evidence collected, an arrest warrant was issued. Hall, who is now facing charges of criminal homicide, was booked into the Humphreys County Jail. His bail has been set at $82,000. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Hall, an 18-year-old Tennessee resident, was reported to have left the crime scene with his two younger brothers, 15-year-old twins, telling them that something had happened to their mother and suggesting they go to their grandmother’s house. It was after their arrival at the grandmother’s house that the 911 call was made, and law enforcement responded swiftly.
The motive behind the fatal altercation between Hall and his mother remains unclear. Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis stated that the motive is still under investigation, but hinted that some issues may have been building up over time. Hall was arrested around 2:30 a.m. on August 24, according to arrest records.
Sherri Hicks Hall was 54 years old at the time of her death. A former colleague expressed shock at the news, describing Sherri as the “sweetest woman you’re ever going to meet” and a loving mother. The father of the boys is reportedly not in the picture, leaving the twins without both parents.
