Teen Fatally Shot Playing Video Games in His Home

A 14-year-old high school freshman in St. Louis, Missouri, tragically lost his life when a stray bullet struck him as he played video games in his home. The incident occurred around 6:10 p.m. on Hobkirk Drive on October 8, during a gunfight that broke out among local teenagers, according to law enforcement officials.

D’Uwan Morgan was in his bedroom when two bullets pierced through a windowpane. His mother and two brothers were also in the house at the time of the incident. The St. Louis Police Department confirmed that Morgan succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Family members expressed their grief and shock at the sudden loss. One relative described Morgan as a young man who was simply “minding his business, doing nothing” when the tragedy struck. The family is now grappling with the reality of his absence.

Eyewitnesses in the neighborhood reported seeing several teenagers, some masked, jumping fences and disappearing between houses when the gunfire erupted. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and no arrests have been made so far, according to police.

Morgan, who had just completed eighth grade five months prior to the incident, was remembered fondly by his family for his love of the outdoors and fishing. His aunt, Erica Davis, described him as a “beautiful, nice kid” with a “bright future ahead of him.”

The aftermath of the incident has been particularly hard on Morgan’s mother, who is struggling to cope with her son’s untimely death. Davis shared that Morgan’s mother has been unable to eat or sleep, describing the situation as a “horrible nightmare.”

The family is seeking answers and justice for Morgan’s death. Davis expressed the family’s frustration with the lack of progress in the investigation, stating, “My family will never be the same. We want justice for my nephew. He didn’t deserve to lose his life like this.”
