BUCHAREST, Romania – A tragic incident occurred in the Bucegi mountains of Romania as a 19-year-old teenager, Maria Diana, lost her life after being attacked by a bear during a hiking trip. Diana was accompanied by her boyfriend when they encountered the bear on the hiking trail. This horrifying attack took place while she was on the phone with emergency services, desperately seeking help. The bear grabbed her leg and dragged her off a 400-foot cliff. Despite the rescue efforts, Diana’s injuries proved to be fatal.

According to Dan Banu, the head of the local mountain rescue service, the attack was witnessed in real-time by the emergency dispatcher and Diana’s boyfriend. The couple raised the alarm, with the boyfriend reporting that they were under attack by the bear and that Diana had been taken away. Rescuers, upon arriving at the scene, discovered the bear circling the victim’s lifeless body. In an attempt to protect themselves, the rescuers were forced to shoot and kill the aggressive bear.

The local authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances of the attack further. In the meantime, hikers are encouraged to take precautions and be vigilant while exploring the Romanian mountains.
