Two Wyoming men, Rowan Henry Littauer, 19, and Orion Schlesinger, 18, are facing charges related to the death of 23-year-old Dakota Farley, whom they accused of being a pedophile. Littauer is charged with first-degree murder and mutilation of a dead body, while Schlesinger is facing charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and theft.
The investigation began on February 5 when the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office received text messages stating that Littauer had shot Farley with a bow and two arrows, and that there was “one less pedophile now.” However, the Sheriff’s Office has not confirmed any evidence of Farley engaging in illicit behavior with minors. The reason for the suspects’ accusation against Farley remains undisclosed.
Littauer, during his interaction with detectives, allegedly confessed to shooting Farley with a bow and two arrows in the arm and head. He used his phone’s map application to indicate Farley’s home, where he claimed the killing took place. He also stated that Schlesinger was present during the incident.
Upon visiting the home in Pinedale, a mountain town approximately 350 miles northwest of Cheyenne, officers discovered Farley’s body lying face down on the living room carpet. They observed dried blood around Farley’s head and eight circular wounds on the left side of his head with BBs lodged inside. Investigators concluded that Farley was shot with the BB gun post-mortem, as there was no blood in the wounds.
Further inquiries revealed that Littauer and Schlesinger had allegedly planned to kill Farley on the evening of February 1. Littauer reportedly gathered a compound bow, broadhead tipped arrows, and a BB gun at his house after Schlesinger arrived. The duo then walked over a mile to Farley’s house and entered, where Farley was in the living room. The affidavit did not clarify whether Farley was acquainted with the suspects prior to the incident.
Littauer allegedly shot Farley through the right arm and into his chest, causing his almost immediate death. He then reportedly fired eight BBs into Farley’s head post-mortem. Schlessinger is accused of stealing Farley’s purple and gray .22 caliber revolver. The bow and arrow and BB gun Littauer claimed to have used were recovered by the police.
Both Littauer and Schlesinger are currently held in the Sublette County Jail on a $5 million bond. A court hearing is scheduled for February 13.
Farley’s obituary described his life as “tragically and senselessly taken” in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 2025. Farley, a member of the Jackson Hole Moose Rugby team, was known for his love of basketball, gaming, hunting, camping, and fishing. His obituary also mentioned his service at the Kemmerer Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Wyoming.
