Police in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, reported that a teenage couple attempted to strangle and poison the teen girl’s 75-year-old grandmother. The 18-year-old granddaughter, Madison Barnett, and her boyfriend have been taken into custody.
The grandmother was driving the boyfriend home. While in the car with the granddaughter and boyfriend, the grandmother felt a rope come over her head from the backseat.
The boyfriend’s brother, Antonio Mojica, acknowledged that the two teenagers attempted to strangle her, but she was able to break free after Barnett punched the granddaughter.
Mojica added that the couple first ran to Mojica’s apartment, as the grandmother called the police. When the police arrived, the couple attempted to flee in a nearby drainage ditch, but they were apprehended.
The male juvenile threatened to beat and kill the officers and slit their throats as he was in custody. Mojica said the two were upset with the grandmother because she would not let them spend more time together.
According to an affidavit, Barnett admitted to trying to poison her grandmother and discussed the disposal of her body.
Both have been charged with aggravated assault and battery, and Barnett is additionally charged with one count of poisoning food, drink, medication, or water.
