EASTPOINTE, MI – In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl and her 17-year-old boyfriend have been charged as adults for allegedly plotting to kill the girl’s mother. The motive behind the alleged plot was reportedly the mother’s decision to confiscate her daughter’s phone as a disciplinary measure.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of July 14, when an unidentified male intruder reportedly woke the mother while she was asleep in her home on Roxana Avenue. According to police reports, the intruder attempted to suffocate the woman with a pillow before physically assaulting her. The woman managed to scream for help, alerting her own mother who was also in the house. The suspect, upon being confronted, apologized and fled the scene, leaving behind a kitchen knife from the house and his shoes.

The victim, suspecting her daughter’s involvement in the crime, informed the police about her daughter’s rebellious behavior and her resentment towards the house rules, particularly the confiscation of her phone. The mother also mentioned her daughter’s previous run-ins with the law.

Subsequent investigations by the police confirmed the mother’s suspicions. Surveillance footage and interviews revealed that the 17-year-old suspect was in a relationship with the victim’s daughter, whom he had met online. The police stated that the two teenagers had conspired to murder the mother to gain more freedom in their relationship.

The Macomb County Prosecutors Office has charged both teenagers as adults. The girl faces charges of solicitation of murder and conspiracy to commit homicide, with potential sentences ranging from 25 years to life in prison. The boy, in addition to conspiracy to commit murder, is also charged with assault with intent to murder. He is currently held on a $2.5 million bond, while the girl’s bond is set at $1 million. The police have not disclosed their names due to their minor status.
