A 23-year-old woman from Texas, Alexys Pinto, was recently released from jail after being accused of luring her boyfriend to a field and shooting him multiple times. The incident, which took place on September 5, left 24-year-old Elvis Munoz with several gunshot wounds, including one that lodged a bullet in his back for months. Munoz, who is still recovering, has been grappling with the reason behind the violent act.
The incident reportedly began when one of Munoz’s clients arrived at their home with a car for him to repair. Munoz, a mechanic, tried to explain the nature of his work to Pinto, which allegedly triggered her anger. She attempted to hit Munoz and even kicked one of their dogs. Munoz managed to intercept her attack by holding her wrists and urging her to calm down.
However, Pinto’s rage did not subside. She questioned why Munoz had touched her and then abruptly changed her demeanor, asking him if he remembered a specific field where they had once watched the sunset together. Munoz did recall the location and Pinto insisted they go there immediately.
Upon reaching the intersection of State Highway 288 and Airport Boulevard, Pinto exited the car and started running down a hill. When Munoz followed her, she allegedly asked him to teach her about deer hunting before shooting him in the chest.
According to the complaint, Pinto then shot Munoz multiple times as he tried to escape. As he lay on the ground, injured and in pain, Pinto allegedly called someone and falsely claimed that Munoz had shot her. Despite his injuries, Munoz pleaded with Pinto to call an ambulance. Pinto allegedly responded by apologizing and stating she had not shot him in the right places.
Munoz, fearing for his life, covered his face with his hand, which was subsequently shot. Pinto eventually helped Munoz back into his truck and drove him to a nearby gas station where he received help from strangers.
Pinto was arrested on September 20 after a separate disturbance call revealed an existing warrant for aggravated assault. Her bail was initially set at $75,000 but was later reduced to $10,000. The state had initially requested a $50,000 bail, which was later increased to $1 million.
On the day Pinto was released from jail, Munoz had the bullet removed from his back. Munoz expressed his fear for the safety of his friends and family, stating that Pinto poses a danger to the community. The motive behind the violent act remains unclear.
