Kruglov had been reported missing prior to the discovery of his body, which was found as the festival’s namesake effigy was set ablaze. The Washoe Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Kruglov’s identity through fingerprint analysis, according to a statement from the Pershing County Sheriff’s Office.
Kruglov’s family has been informed of the tragic incident. Meanwhile, investigators are actively seeking information on a suspect who is believed to have fled following the festival’s conclusion on Monday. The Burning Man organizers expressed their condolences in a statement, mourning the loss of a member of their community.
The Burning Man Project pledged its full support to the ongoing investigation. The organization committed to assisting the Sheriff’s investigation in any way possible to ensure the perpetrator is apprehended and brought to justice. This includes a coordinated donation to the Secret Witness program, which offers rewards for information that aids law enforcement investigations.
Kruglov, a resident of the Siberian city of Omsk, had arrived at the Burning Man festival in Pershing County, Nevada, on August 24. His friend, who reported him missing, shared this information in an Instagram post. According to the friend, Kruglov’s tent and belongings were found at the camp, but he never returned.
The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office and Burning Man Festival organizers have yet to respond to requests for comment. The festival, which draws thousands of attendees to the Nevada desert, was the scene of a grim discovery on Saturday evening when the deceased victim was found.
Authorities have appealed to the public for assistance in identifying the deceased victim.
