A British Airways flight attendant was discovered in an airplane bathroom, unclothed and under the influence of drugs while on duty. The 41-year-old attendant, Haden Pentecost, was found to have methamphetamine and amphetamines in his system during a flight from California to London. Pentecost has since been dismissed from his position with British Airways.
Pentecost’s behavior during the flight was erratic, with reports of him sweating, babbling, and appearing agitated. His inability to assist with pre-flight safety checks led to his removal from his duties by his manager. Pentecost then excused himself to the bathroom, claiming he was suffering from cramps and needed to change his clothes.
However, a co-worker later found Pentecost in the bathroom stall, naked and incoherent. His pupils were dilated and his heart rate was elevated. The co-worker assisted Pentecost in getting dressed before moving him to an empty seat on the aircraft, as reported by the Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court.
Pentecost was monitored every 20 minutes until the plane landed at Heathrow Airport. Upon landing, he was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
Pentecost has since pleaded guilty to performing an aviation function while impaired by drugs. He was granted bail and is currently awaiting sentencing at Isleworth Crown Court.
