Anti-Hamas protest

Nearly two years after Oct. 7, Gazans say Hamas — not Israel — is to blame for their suffering.

Nearly two years after the October 7 massacres and the subsequent war, anti-Hamas sentiment among Gazans is growing, as more civilians blame the terror group for the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas, which has ruled Gaza since 2007, has long silenced dissenters critical of its rule with imprisonment, torture, and extrajudicial killings.

Yet despite the enormous risks, some Gazans are speaking out, saying that Hamas has brought only devastation since its deadly assault on Israel.

Moumen al-Natour, an attorney and founder of the anti-Hamas movement We Want to Live, told Fox News Digital that he constantly fears for his life.

“They’ve been tracking me for months,” al-Natour said. “I’m moving from place to place, hiding because I don’t want to be killed or even paralyzed. This is how Hamas operates.”

Al-Natour said the October 7 attack has deepened resentment toward Hamas among ordinary Gazans, many of whom blame the terror group – not Israel – for their misery.

“There used to be some opposition to Hamas, but after the attack and the consequences that followed, more and more people in Gaza despise them,” al-Natour stressed.

“The suffering caused by Hamas’ actions has turned the tide. It’s a catastrophic situation… almost the entire population has been displaced.”

Mkhaimer Abusada, a Gazan political analyst based in Cairo, confirmed that Gazans’ are increasingly resentful of the terror group.

he general attitude towards Hamas in the Arab world is negative, “whether it’s in Gaza or among Palestinians here in Cairo,” Abusada told Fox News Digital.

“The Palestinian people have endured unimaginable hardship over the past 22 months – killing, destruction, starvation – with many now placing the blame squarely on Hamas,” he said.

“At the end of the day, they blame it on Hamas for the Oct. 7 attack.”
