Once cautious Gulf nations are now backing a continued war against Iran, including regime change.

The Gulf states are urging President Donald Trump not to end the war against Iran until the current regime is toppled, after being subjected to multiple attacks carried out by Tehran since the outbreak of the conflict.
Since the launch of Operation Epic Fury, Iran has targeted oil-rich Gulf kingdoms with attacks on both their energy infrastructure and civilian assets, including airports.
Tehran’s move to close the Strait of Hormuz, along with its threats to block oil exports from the region, has further roiled the economies of those countries.
According to a Reuters report, while Gulf nations initially opposed military action against Iran, their stance has shifted dramatically.
They now believe the war must end with a clear defeat of Iran and the establishment of a new government that is not hostile to its Gulf neighbors.
“There is a wide feeling across the Gulf that Iran has crossed every red line with every Gulf country,” Abdulaziz Sager, chairman of the Saudi-based Gulf Research Center, told Reuters.
“At first we defended them and opposed the war,” Sager added. “But once they began directing strikes at us, they became an enemy. There is no other way to classify them.”
A Gulf government source confirmed to Reuters that there is now a regional consensus that Iran poses a threat that must be neutralized, and that following the attacks on their territory, Tehran must be reined in.
Sources also told Reuters that Trump is encouraging Gulf countries to join the coalition and fight alongside the United States and Israel against Iran—something those nations have so far avoided.
While Gulf states have issued numerous statements condemning Iran’s attacks, they have thus far refrained from launching direct retaliatory strikes on Iranian territory.
