Yemeni Houthis warn Israel they ‘will not allow Hezbollah to be isolated’ as Lebanon fighting escalates.

Yemen’s Houthis have warned that they could join the fighting against Israel if the war in Lebanon expands further, saying they are coordinating with Hezbollah and other members of Iran’s regional alliance as Israeli forces push deeper into southern Lebanon.

Sources close to the Houthi leaders in Sanaa told the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar that contacts were continuing between the Houthis, Hezbollah and other groups in the so-called Axis of Resistance.

The sources threatened that “any Israeli escalation will be met with a unified response by the Axis of Resistance, and Sanaa will not allow Hezbollah to be isolated.”

They also claimed there was “broad popular willingness to fight alongside the heroes of the Lebanese resistance on the battlefield.”

The warning came as Israel expanded its ground campaign in southern Lebanon, including the seizure of Beaufort Castle, a 900-year-old fortress overlooking the Litani River that carries heavy symbolic weight in Lebanon and Israel.

Israeli forces held the site during Israel’s 1982-2000 presence in southern Lebanon, and Hezbollah later used Israel’s withdrawal from the area as a symbol of resistance.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the latest push into Lebanon was ordered in response to Hezbollah attacks on northern Israel.

“I instructed the military to expand its ground maneuver in Lebanon,” Netanyahu said, according to Reuters.

The Houthis, who control much of northern Yemen, have repeatedly threatened to widen their role in the regional conflict since the outbreak of the Gaza war and later fighting involving Iran, Hezbollah and Israel.

A Houthi military source said Sanaa “is not ignoring the Israeli enemy and is closely following developments in the confrontations, which are expanding from southern Lebanon to deep inside the Palestinian territories.”

The same source said Sanaa had “considered entering the campaign if the confrontations with Hezbollah expand.”
