The baby was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition. Later in the day, the mother of the child returned to the Dunkin’ Donuts outlet and was directed to the local police precinct. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
This incident followed closely on the heels of another similar case. On Monday morning, during the rush hour, a newborn baby was found abandoned on the platform of the 34th Street-Penn Station. The baby, whose umbilical cord was still attached, was found wrapped in blankets.
According to police reports, an unidentified individual was seen entering the station and leaving the baby on the floor, wrapped in a blanket. The individual then left the subway station and disappeared on foot. The newborn was promptly taken to Bellevue hospital by police officers and is reported to be in stable condition.
In an attempt to identify the person responsible for abandoning the newborn, police released a video on Tuesday. The video shows a woman walking on 34th Street and 7th Avenue, carrying a bundle wrapped in white cloth. The woman is wanted for questioning in connection with the case.
