In Plainsboro, New Jersey, a family of four was discovered dead in their home in what authorities are investigating as a potential murder-suicide. The deceased, identified as Tej Pratap Singh, 43, his wife Sonal Parihar, 42, and their two children, aged 10 and 6, were found on Wednesday afternoon.
The Singh-Parihar family was well-known and respected in their community. Singh, an IT professional, was actively involved in the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) at his children’s school. Parihar also worked in the IT sector, with additional responsibilities in Human Resources.
The grim discovery was made after a relative requested a welfare check around 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday. The Plainsboro Police Department, in collaboration with the Middlesex County Prosecutors Office, is currently investigating the case. The authorities have not yet released any further details about the cause of death or the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The family’s absence was first noticed by a neighbor whose daughter used to meet the Singh-Parihar’s daughter at the school bus stop every morning. The neighbor reached out to Parihar when the child did not show up on Wednesday but received no response.
The family was last seen in public about 18 months ago, during the Hindu festival of Holi. Singh had shared a photo on Facebook of the family covered in bright colors, smiling and celebrating the festival. He was also seen at a PTA meeting at his children’s school a few months later.
The tragic incident has left the community in shock. Relatives and friends, who gathered outside the family’s home following the news, described Singh and Parihar as a “happy couple”. The school district, where the children were enrolled, has also expressed its grief over the loss. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
